WHO IS RIATTA? 
Riatta is a green beauty and lifestyle online store, dedicated to simplifying your gorgeous green life! Founder Lily moved from the city in Sydney to the central coast of New South Wales, to a rural property called “Riatta”. She ended up naming her business after her home! Lily has made it her mission to make the process of living a green lifestyle simple, stress-free and affordable by curating a one-stop-shop. She’s particularly passionate about not just selling products, but educating her customers. She wants to help you sort fact from fiction so you can spend less time worrying about the details and more time actually enjoying life.

THE BEGINNING
Lily approached me, familiar with some of my past work in the organic beauty space (an industry I love!). I was excited to see how we could transform their brand! At that point, Riatta had been running for around a year. They had invested in getting a functional website up and running, but not a lot in their actual brand identity. So we really needed to take a step back and get clear on the foundations of their message and visual brand identity system. They were ready to create something they loved and which reflected who they were as a brand.

OUR GOALS
Lily knew upfront that she wanted her brand to be stylish, but not in the that slick, modern, black and white kind of way. She told me her version of style was a beautiful woman in a field with a reusable bag. So we wanted that balance between an organic, green, natural, authentic look, without it being too crafty or unsophisticated. There are a lot of competitors in their space, so we really wanted to create an identity which stood out for all the right reasons and wasn’t a green cliche. We also really wanted to flesh out the brand identity, because they only really had a logo and colours that were consistent at that point.

As women, we have enough to worry about with work, family and the laundry list of other things we need to get through every single day! We want to live the healthy, safe, natural, nasties-free, balanced lifestyle we’ve always dreamed of, but we aren’t interested in sifting through thousands of products in the market and hundreds of websites trying to determine which ones are genuine, natural, easily accessible and cost-effective and which ones are nothing but misleading marketing and ineffective, overpriced or unsafe duds! No one has time for that!

THE LOGO DESIGN
The new Riatta logo is designed to balance a feminine, stylish look with a touch of nature. On the surface we see a branch with some berries or flowers. This is created through the cross bar which crosses the two ‘t’s, which has been lengthened so that it connects to the dot of the ‘i’. Conceptually, it represents a person’s green journey, and more importantly, a streamlined, straightforward, simple journey from A to B, represented by the straight line created across the logo and sophisticatedly tying into the letter-forms. It also plays into the phrase “dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s” which is defined as “paying a great deal of attention to the details of something”.

Hand-Crafted Details 
We wanted the visual branding to reflect the natural ingredients of the products, with a natural line and style. I incorporated a range of hand illustrated pieces from nature, that were ingredients in the products such as coconut, honey, lavender, orange and rose. I also created three watercolour textures in the three brand colours: lilac, mint and blueberry.

THE SOCIAL MEDIA TEMPLATES
Social media, particular for Instagram is a really important part of Riatta’s business. Lily puts out a lot of images and was hoping to achieve more consistency with the look and feel of her photos. One thing I found was that she was only posting product shots, so I thought we could diversify her content more. I suggested integrating quotes, blog article titles, eBook promotions and a theme where “Riatta Explains….” a certain ingredient and what it actually meant. I also felt she could incorporate the watercolour textures and nature illustrations into her product shots so they felt more on brand.

The eBook 
One of Lily’s goals was to grow her email list in 2017, so I suggested we incorporate an eBook on their home page design. When we did our strategic work at the beginning of the project, we identified that her ideal customer was someone who was at the beginning of her journey towards a healthy green lifestyle and needed help and support from someone they could trust to pick the right products. So I suggested creating an eBook full of the top tips for getting started with a green lifestyle. This will be a great incentive for people to sign up for their email list!
