ABOUT THE CLIENT

When Enlightened Elephant Wellness Loft founder, Laura first started her business, she was strictly a massage therapist. She went to place an ad in the local magazine (without a business name, she was just kind of winging it) and the advertising salesman said “What’s your business name?” She shrugged and they both simultaneously said “Massage by Laura?” That was 2010 and her business really took off and became so busy that she didn’t have time for much anything else. Although, it always bothered her because she felt she was much more creative than that. Over time, her business evolved. She moved into a house that had a perfect loft big enough to hold classes of up to about 30 people and she felt her business shifting. She started hiring out her loft to practitioners who wanted to hold yoga and meditation, psychic/mediumship readings, cooking classes and more! She didn’t want to be ‘Massage by Laura’ anymore because it didn’t encompass EVERYTHING that went on in her business. But she also felt conflicted about how best to take her next steps.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our goals for the branding and website project were renaming the business so it is a more expansive container for all that she did and creating more of a spiritual vibe for the branding so that it’s clear there is an intuitive element to her work. This should repel anyone who is really put off by any intuitive or spiritual elements of her offering and just wants a traditional massage. The business name “Enlightened Elephant Wellness Loft” was inspired by her family affectionately giving her the nickname of “the pink elephant” Ever since then, Elephants kept coming up in her life as spiritual messages. We built on this concept with the logo focusing on the baby elephant holding the lotus with its trunk to represent transfomation. Laura wanted a colourful, yet calming vibe. So we brought in grounded, calming colours like the burnt orange, teal and browns with pops of bright pink. Custom textures were made to feel rich and sumptuous, giving depth while ensuring it is easy to read, while custom illustrations were created to represent the different sides of her business, all done in a spiritual and feminine style and primarily used in gold.
