FAQS

I would like to work with you. How should I get started?

If you would like to work with me, please read my services page and fill out my enquiry form at the end of the page. If you would like to work with me, but in a slightly different capacity to what is listed on that page, feel free to enquire in the same way, but mention the scope you’re looking for in your enquiry.

Can we just work on the brand strategy/messaging work?

Yes, I do offer this as a stand-alone piece for the right fit clients. Please contact me and I will let you know. The cost is $4500 AUD + GST.

Can we just work on my website design?

While this is not something I normally offer, I am happy to review your circumstances and if you already have the right pieces in place (branding, messaging), then I would consider it for the right fit client. I will review where you are at and what additional gaps we may need to fill first before we can start on the website.

Can I still work with you if I’m not looking to change everything about my branding? (there are parts that I love)

A number of my clients want to retain an existing logo or a colour that they are known for, for example. I am certainly open to retaining elements of your existing brand, that are aligned to your message you want to covey moving forward. If we determine they are not, we can look at alternative options or ways we can evolve them *i.e. keep existing icon and evolve the typography or vice versa.

I’m looking for a graphic designer to create a one-off piece, is that you?

No, sorry, I don’t offer ad-hoc graphic design work for clients who are not former branding clients. This service is reserved for those whose brands I have designed already.

How do I know if I’m ready to get started?

Before we work together, it’s important that you have a good idea about your vision for your business and what audience you want to attract. If you’re brand new to starting a business and really are still testing the waters, then it may not make sense to make the investment in your brand identity at this stage. That being said, some people are ready to invest early on and get it right the first time, so I am open to working with the right fit new business and will review your situation individually.

I would encourage you to enquire when you have the time to devote to the project, as it can be quite involved on both our ends. If you already have a lot going on, I get it, as we all have multiple projects and responsibilities we juggle as business owners, but do make sure you’re in the space mentally and emotionally to take the project on.

How long does the design process take?

The length of time each phase takes is dependent on the amount of revisions requested and the speed in which you get back to me. In addition, because website project scopes can vary wildly, each site will be different. Here is a rough guide:

The brand strategy phase: 3-4 weeks
The visual brand identity phase: 4-6 weeks The save out/empowerment stage: 1-2 weeks
The full website design phase: 3-6 months

Will I own the rights to the creative you come up with?

Yes. After completing payment in full, you own the copyright to the work. The only exception is that I maintain the rights to display the work as part of my portfolio and marketing.

Where are you located and how will we speak?

I am based in Sydney, NSW, Australia, but work with clients all over the world. If you’re not in Sydney, we can use Zoom to have face-to-face meetings. All international transactions are done through Transferwise (which has much better rates and lower transfer fees than Paypal), making it so easy. My time zone is AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

Do you work with men?

Absolutely, I am here to translate your vision, your values and your energy. You may notice trends in my portfolio, because I do tend to attract clients wanting a particular vibe. However, I love to design in many styles and the most important thing is that you get your desired outcome.

Do I need to have my website copy written before I work with you?

No, when we start the branding phase, you do not need your website copy written. Much of what we will do in the strategy phase will inform your copy moving forward. I normally write clients’ home page copy myself, based on the work we have done in their Heart and Soul Guidebook. From there, clients can review it and make any edits needed. It is often much easier to edit something once you see the framework and layout than to write it all from scratch! Most of my clients do not hire a third party copywriter, because we can handle this together. Some clients do prefer to write their websites themselves, which is totally fine. I can offer any recommendations or tweaks as I go through the design process and seek your feedback on them if I feel anything can work better from a strategic/user experience point of view.

Do I need to hire a photographer?

All my clients normally go through a photoshoot during the branding process. This is normally done around week 4-6 of the process. High quality images of yourself as the face of the brand is so important to conveying your heart and soul and embedding your energy and personality into your brand and website. Even if you are not a personal brand/face of your brand, such as if you have a team or prefer to not be the core focus, you will probably still want to do a shoot of your team or we can focus on mood images such as hands, props etc that convey the feel of your brand.
